I might get that so I can play Planetside on it. (I don't like PC FPS's anymore, wears out my laptop keyboard).
I might download DUST, but the PS4 isn't going to be backwards compatible and I don't know if CCP knows how to move DUST to it |

True, but the question should be if DUST's profit potential warrants more development given it's performance in 2013 and in light of recent news, the Planetside juggernaut will be there waiting for it. |

Planetside is the most direct competitor I could imagine. What is DUST's selling point when compared to Planetside 2? |

Controllers + real time precision aiming = massive incomprehensible failure. For the love of god, get Planetside on pc. It's worth a worn out laptop keyboard.
It's new though, maybe after I spill a few things on it I won't care anymore. |

no idea what the profits are but being f2p i'm sure it's making a decent bit, really they just need to do some advertising but CCP has never been great at that
I have no idea how DUST is doing in CCP's eyes and I haven't even played it. But my point was that whatever it made in 2013 (and whatever profit projection this extrapolates out to) is going to be probably cut in half at least when it's directly competing with PS2.
I can't imagine a scenario where it's better off when it hits PlayStation 4 than it was at launch on PS3. So the question CCP would have to ask itself is whether it's worth it |

I thought about this a bit since my last post and will just include it here, because might as well.
I think that players will be less likely to spend money on a F2P game they think is not "relevant"
While this may seem obvious, it's less obvious in terms of profit projection. Where often times instead of splitting market share, two similar products inexplicably diverge and one 'snowballs' down into the gutter.
It's not just a matter of gameplay, with PS2's popularity I don't see how DUST will be able to compete on the PS4 on a financial level (which has a snowball mechanism all it's own). Because when compared to PS2 an outside gamer will conclude DUST is irrelevant.
CCP will never be able to capture the marketshare and thus the 'relevancy' that PS2 already has, and that means less development dollars.
I think that DUST will continue to be a drain on EVE's development for as long as it exists and that's the only reason I even bother putting it out there. |

Like Incarna...which was unceremoniously killed....
It was killed in a pretty funny/sad manner, but only because of a severe lack of imagination. WiS can be PvP and Sandbox , CCP failed with that though |
